Our story is simple but very close to our hearts. I founded Little Angels Foundation (LAF) in 2013 in the memory of my late son, who passed away in 2006. Our vision was to help children in resource-scarce communities with food and school supplies. We partnered with schools in North and East St. Louis to help them with school supplies, school bags, canned food for their pantry etc.
When COVID 19 hit globally, it changed all our lives forever. Apart from the public health crisis; school closures, job losses, economic stress, and social isolation played havoc in our communities. This was a call of action for us to do more. The most vulnerable of our population were our homeless community and I decided to feed them. In 2020, I along with my wife and 10 years old daughter started making hot meals every Sunday for 40-50 homeless and I would take the food to downtown St. Louis to serve them. As I came across more people who needed help, I requested my friends to help out. Many of my friends joined my mission and starting with 40 meals a week then, we now feed 200 plus homeless every week.
In 2021, we received a call from International Institute of St. Louis asking for our help with hot-meals for the newly arrived Afghan Refugees. We had no money or resources. but I believe God always helps if we try. Our LAF family started to cook weekly hot meals for the refugees and that project lasted through May 2022. We also donated 19,000 pounds of non-perishables to the refugees.
Since 2018, Little Angels Foundation has served 151,000 plus meals to homeless, migrants, children and refugees. We have also helped people experiencing joblessness and economic stress. Currently every week we feed 200 or more nutritious hot meals to the homeless community. We also provide grocery staples and frozen meals for families experiencing financial difficulties.
